Queensland’s southeast is set to welcome another burger brand, with an Adelaide-born business revealing big expansion plans for the Sunshine State.
Benny’s Burgers opened its first Queensland store in November last year, but now has plans to roll out eight more from the Sunshine Coast to the Gold Coast this year.
The burger biz, which specialises in smash patties and using locally grown, fresh, not frozen ingredients, wants to target untouched suburban areas that haven’t already been saturated by the relentless burger movement.
“We select the location where there is room for a burger bar rather than somewhere that’s concentrated,” said co-founder Niraj Pansara.
“We think there’s no point creating competition when there is room for expansion for everybody.”
The chain will open its next store on the Gold Coast in April, though Mr Pansara said he couldn’t reveal the exact location yet.
Each store will be about 100-200sq m with dine-in and takeaway options, moving from Canadian-style poutines and chicken nuggets to veggie, beef, chicken and pork bun creations. Burgers range from $12.50 to just under $28 for their premium options.
Benny’s will also collaborate with local Queensland breweries in each new location to offer diners locally made beer.
“The weather is good here (in Queensland) for burgers and beers, so it’s a great combination,” Mr Pansara said.
