Some of Australia’s best beef and cheese is set to dominate the menu at a new Brisbane bar opening next week.
Italian-inspired Bar Gusto will launch at the base of Rydges Fortitude Valley in the RNA precinct and has inked a deal to serve award-winning produce from the Ekka’s coveted annual Royal Queensland food and beverage competitions.
General manager Greg Stewart said the gong-claiming ingredients classed as the finest in the country would be used for everything from pizza and pasta to steaks and grazing boards at the new venue.
“The pasta offerings are a little bit different using Italian imported ingredients but also what we have locally here in southeast Queensland and all the best beef and cheese from the RNA,” he said.
The venue replaces the old Paddock Bar at the King St site, and has been given a major spruce up to look dark and moody with nods to Italy, and will boast 190 seats, including 90 outside and private dining for 40.
Alongside the award-winning produce, the pizzas will be the star of the diverse menu, with a pizziola from Italy pumping out 36-hour fermented dough bases cooked in a gas oven imported from Italy.
A strong drinks offering has been designed to complement the food with Australian-grown Italian varieties sitting alongside drops from the motherland, plus specially curated cocktails with a distinct Mediterranean theme.
The venue will officially open on September 14.
