Maman – meaning mum in French – is the work of ironman Matt Poole, his friend Oli Frost, and Oli’s mum and aunt, Karen and Liz Fines, and will offer an tasty fusion of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern fare.
Moving into Burleigh Heads’ popular James St precinct, the eatery aims to make diners feel like they’re “coming home to mum”.
“Each dish is served with love from local and organic ingredients … the way only mamans know how,” said Frost.
That means everything from lamb kofta and beef tagine, to spinach and feta filo pie and tuna carpaccio.
The share-style menu will be matched with sustainable wines and a cocktail list using boutique, artisan spirits.
The intimate venue will also have a Mediterranean theme with classic archways, custom tiles, rendered white bar tops, brushed gold trims and a private dining room for guests who want to feel like they’re dining at the family table.
“[It’s] a brand new, fresh, vibrant atmosphere for a bar and restaurant that makes you feel like your sitting in the Mediterranean,” said Frost.
The restaurant is a sister venue to the recently opened Port Douglas venture of the same name, and the group hope it will be the second of many, with plans for more in Brisbane, Noosa and Byron Bay.
Maman at Burleigh Heads will open early October.
