Its burgers have been named some of the best in the country, now cult fast food chain Hashtag Burgers & Waffles is set to expand to Brisbane’s Redlands, launching their first franchise.
New franchisees James Pitt and Dana Henley will open the Hashtag outlet at Kos Village on Finucane Rd, Capalaba on May 6 – giving away free burgers to celebrate.
The couple decided to take on the business after falling in love with the burgers, which have previously been named as a finalist in Australia’s Best Burger competition.
“I had one of their burgers and it was like a religious experience,” Mr Pitt said.
“There’s nothing like that in the Redlands so we’re really excited to bring that level of quality out here.”
The burgers are adored for their beyond generous fillings, ethically sourced ingredients and interesting flavour combinations such as peanut butter and jam with beef, cheese and bacon.
The new store will also offer some of the most loved dishes from another Brisbane burger favourite, Mac from Way Back, which closed during the pandemic, but was bought by Hashtag Burgers & Waffles founder Matt Rollo. The most popular Mac eats such as their mac ‘n’ cheese skillet and Holy Trinity burger will all be added to the regular Hashtag menu.
Mr Pitt and Ms Henley plan to open four or five of the franchises across the east coast.
“When the franchise opportunity came up, we thought, ‘We’re not the only people who need this closer to home’,” Ms Henley said.
To mark its launch, the Capalaba eatery will be giving away 20 free burgers every hour on the hour between 11am-2pm and 6pm-9pm on May 6 and 7.
