A Brisbane burger has been named Queensland’s best by Australia’s number one competitive eater who has tasted his way around the country.

West End burger joint Hashtag Burgers And Waffles created the burger especially for the Litt Burger of Origin competition judged by professional eater Cal Stubbs.

Mr Stubbs, known as HulkSmashFood to his 186,00 Instagram followers, said Hashtag’s Get Litt burger was the most “well-balanced” of those he tasted in Queensland.

“It looked a bit weird and different to the others due to its cheesy toast buns but I was pleasantly surprised,” Mr Stubbs said.

“The best thing about it was the beef.”

The burger features double lean beef patties, cheese and bacon as well as onion rings and house-made mayo.

The public will get the chance to judge for themselves from Tuesday when 50 of the prize burgers are given away to Courier Mail readers via a Pokémon GO-style treasure hunt orchestrated by social media app LITT.

Hashtag co-owner Matthew Rolo said he was stoked his creation took the Queensland title.

“We put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this business and we never expected it would get to where it has,” Mr Rolo said.

Hashtag defeated Red Hook and Wahoo’s which were hand-picked by Mr Stubbs as three of Australia’s best burger joints.

LITT staged the national competition to help reignite the hospitality sector in Australia, paying for thousands of burgers to be given away for via its Pokémon GO-styled augmented reality treasure hunt.

Once Mr Stubbs is able to travel to Perth and Hobart, he will crown the best burger in the country.

The free burgers can be won using LITT.
