Burger Urge releases Australia’s hottest burger

A Brisbane-based fast food chain is set to release their hottest burger ever packed with crocodile and requiring customers to sign a waiver, wear gloves and protective eyewear.

Queensland’s boundary-pushing Burger Urge is at it again, releasing their latest version of “Australia’s hottest burger” – this time with crocodile.

As a follow-up to their “Double Decker Death Wish” burger of 2020, which sold thousands across the country, this incarnation will feature one of the world’s spiciest chillies – the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion, which is about 15 times hotter than a bird’s eye chilli.

To up the heat even further, it will be combined with jalapeños and Brisbane’s internationally award-winning, light-your-mouth-on-fire Jekyll & Hyde BBQ sauce.

The burger will also feature Northern Territory crocodile – a first for the Australian quick service retail market – served in jerky form, spiced up by those ear-steaming Moruga scorpions.

The croc will then be piled on top of two beef patties, bacon, American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, aioli and jalapeños.

Head chef of Burger Urge Joel Chrystal said this would be their hottest burger yet.

“This burger is no joke. If it’s that hot we have to wear gloves and glasses to prepare it, we insist that you wear gloves and glasses to eat it,” he said.

In fact, it’s considered so melt-your-face-off hot, diners must sign a waiver first, with pregnant women strongly discouraged from participating.

The “Crocodile Death Wish” will hit stores this Thursday and be available until September 4 unless sold out prior.
