Ascot’s prestigious Racecourse Rd precinct is set to welcome a new award-winning cafe and caterer.
From the hospitality family that brought Brisbane Sam’s Seafood and Samie’s Girl comes Frigg Cafe, which will slot into the former Journey Cafe & Bar site and neighbouring barber tenancy.
The cafe will be the third for sisters Maria Elita and Toula Scott, with other venues at Labrador and Manly West, and will be a home for their burgeoning catering business.

“We are a cafe but we also do catering and catering has just taken off during Covid, especially with our picnic boxes and grazing boxes,” said Ms Elita.
“We want to be that place where you’re like, ‘It’s my friend’s birthday, can you send her a picnic hamper’, and we take care of it.”
They’ll offer pick-up and delivery catering from the site for everything from corporate functions to private parties and one-off events.
While the cafe itself will be open for breakfast and lunch daily, with a simple menu that focuses on doing the classics with the best quality ingredients available.
“We serve very homely, rustic food anywhere from your simple bacon and eggs, but it’s the best hickory smoked bacon, to vegan bruschetta and big fat Frigg burgers,” Ms Elita said.
“We do everyday food but we make it beautiful and our customers come every single day.”
They will also host occasional specialty dinners with guest chefs for something fun.
The cafe, which will be able to seat up to 80 with a fresh and clean look warmed up with greenery, is a long-held dream for the siblings.
“Me and my twin sister were born and bred on Racecourse Rd so it’s been a dream to go back,” said Ms Elita.
“Because we’ve lived there, we know what they’re (the customers) after and the calibre of people.”
Frigg hopes to open at the end of January, early February.
