KENILWORTH COUNTRY BAKERY
Kenilworth, Mooloolaba
Constantly innovating, Kenilworth Bakery are the originators of a 1kg doughnut challenge (eat this jammy bad boy in one go and you get it free), a Gaytime and lemon meringue version, and a hollowed-out, Nutella smeared-doughnut that gets filled with locally-roasted coffee. A deliciously efficient way to have your coffee and breakfast.

Morningside, Redcliffe, Northgate
On Flour and Chocolate’s sweet treat weekly calendar, Wednesdays are doughnut day. In addition to the bakery’s soft, European-style filled doughnuts, owner/baker Lachlan Scott dreams up some special “get ’em before they’re gone” flavours, such as peaches and cream, Milo, Persian love cake, Caramilk fudge, apple crumble and pina colada.

Doughnut lovers can explore more than 30 variations at Galactic, with the soft, daily made doughnuts filled with creams and custards, glazed and garlanded with icing, lollies and biscuits, festooned with fruit or dusted with sugar snow, coconut or sprinkles. Even traditionalists will find a fit, with a classic cinnamon option.
PADDOCK BAKERY
20 Hibiscus Haven, Burleigh Heads
Like everything else they do, Paddock Bakery’s doughnuts are pure class. Crack the glassy sugar top of a creme brulee doughnut to dig into delicious custard, enjoy the salty crunch of the pretzel crumb atop a salted caramel or the joy of popping candy on your tongue with the “Nutella bot”. They also pump out a cinnamon-dusted ring doughnut all day.

With no shopfront to look after and a razor-sharp focus on a single sweet, the Doughluxe chefs have time to handroll and slow-rise each doughnut, as well as time to dream up new flavours.
