A beloved hinterland bakery, known for its doughnuts and with a cult-like following, has announced an exciting new shopfront closer to Brisbane.

Kenilworth Bakery, which opened nearly 100 years ago in 1924, has secured its place as a tourist destination while also developing a cult-like following among Sunshine Coast locals.

Known for its 1kg doughnut challenge, 1kg sausage roll, coffee in a doughnut, and small town country charm – the bakery almost always has a line out its doors.

Back in early 2022, the bakery opened its second venue at The Wharf Mooloolaba.

Now, it has announced plans to open a third shopfront on Bribie Island.

The third venue announcement has taken off on social media with doughnut lovers excited to have a storefront that bit closer to Brisbane.

“Drum roll please,” they said.

“After countless messages and tags we are so pumped to announce we are opening our third store in Bribie Island.

“We are busy renovating our new space and getting everything we need to make our famous doughnuts and pies out in Bribie Island!

“So keep your eyes out for more updates and the official opening date!

“It will be a day not to be missed!”

It has been confirmed the third venue at Bribie Island will open to the public before the end of the year.

Locals took to social media to share their delight at the news.

“This is heaven to my ears,” one said.

“This place is the BOMB,” another added.

“Best pies, sausage rolls and doughnuts ever,” someone said.

“Such a great store coming out way,” a Bribie Island local said.

“So keen! This will bring great tourism to Bribie. Can’t wait,” another said.

It is understood the shopfront will be taking over the Sue’s Restaurant on the waterfront at Bongaree, at Bribie Island.
