The owner of a Sunshine Coast hinterland bakery with a cult-like following has confirmed a second venue is months from opening.

Kenilworth Country Bakery owner Jenna Sanders said it would open a second store at The Wharf Mooloolaba.

Ms Sanders said the bakery would open early 2022.

The Wharf Mooloolaba owner Dirk Long said the bakery would be a “fantastic” addition to popular food precinct.

Mr Long said the bakery would slot into the Wharf’s laneway section which had been vacant since the pandemic.

“Now is the right time to activate that laneway and this iconic offering is the best way to kick start it,” Mr Long said.

Mr Long said the bakery would be a 50sq m “grab and go” style offering.

He said it was exactly what the Wharf needed.

“Definitely, we have so much interest for those offerings, not only for our staff but for the public,” he said.

“We have four more tenancies available in the alleyway for lease.

“I expect it to be fully operational by Easter.”

Ms Sanders told the Daily in October that the original plan was to open early December.

The century-old bakery, complete with its pop culture mural and one kilogram doughnut challenge has turned into a tourist destination for the hinterland town over the past few years.
