HASHTAG BURGERS & WAFFLES
Fortitude Valley, Capalaba, Ashgrove
hashtagburgersandwaffles.com.au
Despite names like Pickle Me Elmo and Kevin Fakin (vegan), Hashtag’s 18 burgers are serious business. Burgers are smashed for ultimate char and beefy flavour, and add-ons run from a deep-fried mac’n’cheese patty to a waffle or crispy chicken and fries piled high on the burger.
EDDIE’S GRUB HOUSE
171 Griffith St, Coolangatta
The regular menu of dive bar/rock-themed Eddie’s features five beef burgers with spesh sauce (don’t ask for the secret recipe – they’re not telling) plus chicken and vego options. Customising is encouraged with Chizzle & Grizzle (cheddar, chicken gravy and shallots), onion rings or mac’n’cheese balls. Outrageous revolving weekly burger specials keep regulars coming back.
BEN’S BURGERS
5B Winn Ln, Fortitude Valley
This long-time Valley favourite keeps things simple with three burgers – all on brioche buns. The Classic is grass-fed beef with cheese, pickles, lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, mustard and mayo. The Cheesy ditches the salad for a special sauce, while The Veg is mushroom with parmesan and Swiss cheeses and aioli. Go big with extras including cheese, jalapeños and candied bacon.
GROOVE ‘N’ GRILL DINER
21–23 Maryland St, Stanthorpe
For those who like choice, 13 burgers make the regular menu at Groove ‘n’ Grill. They’re big, cooked-to-order, over-the-top and great value. From the Classic OG with a smashed beef patty to the Veggie Masala with chickpea and lentil, there’s pulled pork, chicken schnitzel, battered snapper, and Mexican fever dream La Bamba topped with chilli con carne and corn chips.
CAIRNS BURGER CAFE
15 Aplin St, Cairns City
It’s all about beef at CBC. Go Classic or spice it up with an Atomic (jalapeños and spicy mayo), try the Texan (onion rings and bacon), or be patriotic with the Aussie (with beetroot and pineapple slices). The Ultimate is a whopper with double patty, egg, avocado and all the
usual suspects. Customise your burger with one of nine sauces.
