1. Miss Pop-Ins Pet Sitting
Your business has been named Brisbane’s best pet sitter, what was your initial reaction?
I’m delighted and feel humbled by the honour. I can’t stop smiling. My business is celebrating seven years this month, and this is the best birthday present for my business.
What sets your business apart from the competition?
When I first thought of starting this business, I was in a totally different stage of life and travelling constantly for work. My vision was that I would start this business when I was closer to retirement age and ready to slow down and be home more. My job was suddenly made redundant in early 2016, so I took a leap of faith and started Miss Pop-Ins.
After so many years working and travelling as a safety manager and then safety consultant, I used those experiences to shape my pet sitting and lifestyle assistance services, as well as my business management processes. My mission is to give my clients peace of mind, so they don’t have to worry about the safety of their pets or the security of their home while they are away on holiday, travelling for work or just going out for a big event.
What would you like Brisbane to know about you?
I’m based in Southern Bayside Brisbane and live on the beautiful Redlands Coast. I have built a loyal client base who keep me busy, especially during peak times like School Holidays. All Miss Pop-Ins services are delivered personally by me.
What would you like to say to the fans who voted for you?
I want to send a very big thank you to everyone who voted for Miss Pop-Ins and a special thank you to the person who nominated me, whoever you are. I have a wonderful community of clients and supporters of my business and I appreciate every one of you.
What exciting things do you have planned for the business in the next six months?
Lots of pet sitting is coming up with Easter School Holidays and two long weekends coming up in late April and early May. I’ll be caring for many dogs, cats, chickens, birds, guinea pigs, fish plus a newly acquired pet frog. I’d love to grow my Wedding assistance services where I help couples to include their beloved pets in their Wedding Ceremony or at the Wedding photo shoot. I also want to build on my Lifestyle Assistance services for clients. The concept of using a Personal Concierge service is not well known, especially in my local area. So, I want to build the profile of this service where I can be an extra pair helping hands when my clients need it.
1. Precious Paws Dog Walking & Pet Sitting
Your business has been named Brisbane’s best pet sitter, what was your initial reaction?
I was thrilled by this achievement. I have worked really hard to build my small business to get it to where it is today and it’s an amazing honour to be named Brisbane’s best pet sitter.
What sets your business apart from the competition?
I go above and beyond for my clients and their pets. My clients know they can always count on me. I care very much for the pets and their humans. Sometimes it’s the little things, like when I drop in for a midday visit and bring their food deliveries in and put it in the fridge for them so it doesn’t stay out in the hot weather all day while they are away at work. Other times it can be more important, like going back to a client’s home at 9PM to stay an extra night to care for their dog when their flight has been cancelled at the last minute and they weren’t able to come home as planned.
What would you like Brisbane to know about you?
I left my corporate job a few years ago and now I get to live my dream of having my own business. My passion for pets made the decision to become a professional, reliable and dedicated pet sitter and dog walker easy. Last year, I decided to expand my services by opening up a dog grooming salon with another pet sitter who is also my best friend (Home & Away Pet Sitting and Concierge Service). Sharon and I manage PupperCuts dog grooming salon in Shailer Park.
What would you like to say to the fans who voted for you?
I know we all have hectic schedules and can be time poor. I really appreciate everyone who took the time out of their busy day to vote for me. I am very grateful to have my clients supporting my small business.
What exciting things do you have planned for the business in the next six months?
I will continue to provide the best care for my client’s pets. I will be working on my dog treat business, Healthy Pup. Healthy Pup offers a la carte dog treats as well as a monthly delivery subscription service. It’s important for pets to eat healthy food and treats in order to minimise health issues. I want everyone’s pets to have a happy and healthy life.
2. Fetch Pet Sitting
What sets your business apart from the competition?
I started Fetch Pets as a hobby with the goal to gain experience and knowledge that would help me achieve my dream of entering the Veterinary Nursing world. The business quickly became a source of pride and joy for me. It gave me the opportunity to provide pet owners with a unique alternative to traditional boarding. I knew there had to be a better way for pets to spend time away from their owners and I was determined to create it. As someone who has previously worked as an animal attendant, I saw first-hand the stark difference between the stress levels of pets in their own homes and those who had been dropped off at a kennel. I knew that providing a home-based service could make all the difference in the world to the pets I cared for and is what sets us apart as a business.
What would you like Brisbane to know about you?
Aside from looking after the basic needs of our client’s pets – feeding, walking, watering – we strive to create lasting bonds with them. Our time spent in their homes is more than making sure the boxes are ticked. Any animal lover understands that pets need more than just a bowl of food and a clean litter box. They need attention and affection and they need it in its most genuine form. I would say that is our biggest strength.
What would you like to say to the fans who voted for you?
A huge thank you to anyone who voted for me. The fact is, my clients are a dream. They make me feel appreciated and valued every single day, and knowing they voted is just the icing on the cake. I’ve had an absolute blast looking after all of your furry friends and I promise that I’ll continue to work hard to make sure that the standard of care stays top-notch.
3. Home & Away Pet Sitting and Concierge Service
What sets your business apart from the competition?
I have been a full-time professional pet minder for over 7 years now after having a career as a veterinary nurse previously. My clients are comforted by the fact their pets are being cared for by an ex- vet nurse who has years of experience with all types of breeds, big and small. I can care for pets with medical conditions and I have a vet on standby if the need arises. I have noticed a lot of pet sitters these days don’t want to look after dogs bigger than 10kg. I adore larger dogs, so am more than happy to care for them. I am partial to Labradors and Golden Retrievers! Not only do I host pets at my home, I also offer a drop-in service and overnight stays for regular feeds, walks and simply spending time with my client’s pets. If my clients want their dog groomed while the pet stays with me, I organise it and when my clients return from their holiday, they take home a clean, fresh smelling, tidied up dog.
What would you like Brisbane to know about you?
I have built my business from the desire to continue to care for pets after leaving my vet nursing career behind. I adore all of my client’s fur babies and focus on developing quality relationships with my clients and their pets. I take pride in the number of regular, repeat clients I have and feel very honoured when my clients recommend my services to their friends and other family members. This really is not just a business to me. This is a lifestyle that I am very privileged to live, and is the most rewarding thing I have ever done, which I plan on continuing to do until I am old and frail!
What would you like to say to the fans who voted for you?
To be considered as part of the Best of Brisbane is a huge honour. I simply say thank you very much to everyone who voted for Home & Away Pet Sitting and Concierge Service. More importantly, thank you for your continued loyalty and trust given to me to continue to care for your most precious family members. It means the world to me.
3. Beaudesert Pet Services
What sets your business apart from the competition?
BPS treats pets we look after as part of the family! They become part of the crew and are happy and relaxed in our care. Experience and pet care knowledge helps too! I treat peoples pets like I want my pets treated when I go away! Simple as that.
What would you like Brisbane to know about you?
Beaudesert Pets are the best! That is all!
What would you like to say to the fans who voted for you?
BPS “clients” are really friends … I appreciate each and every one that has supported me over the years and trusts me with their furry and feathery kids.
