Apparently, there's a correct way to open an English Muffin and chances are -you're not doing it.

If you've been using a knife to cut open these delicious carby morsels - you're not only wrong, but you're also creating unnecessary washing up for yourself.

According to one recent TikTok video, the correct way to do it has been in front of us this whole time... on the packaging.

*facepalm*

"Twist apart and enjoy!"

In the clip, user @sharvs9 holds up a packet of Tip Top English muffins and turns it around to show the back of the packaging.

He then points to a small illustration that clearly demonstrates how you're meant to open them.

"Twist apart and enjoy!" it says next to the picture.

Yep, apparently you're not meant to rip through it with a butter knife, but rather rotate the two sides in opposite directions and they effortlessly separate.

The TikToker then demonstrates the hack (is it a hack if it's the 'correct' way?) and to his and our surprise - it works a treat!

He just gently twists and voila! It pops apart into two perfectly even sides, ready for your butter and jam!

You're never too old to learn something new.

"Been using a knife to cut them my whole life," he captioned the clip, which now has over 240k likes and 3000 comments.

"I eat these every day and never knew"

"YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO TWIST THEM?! I always cut them open on the line," someone said, summarising the majority of the other comments.

"Are you kidding? Now I won’t have one bigger than the other 🤣" wrote another.

"I eat these every day and never knew. Mind blown," commented a third.

"I just rip it in half," admitted someone else.

But of course, others claimed to have "always known this."

Sureeeeeeeeee you did.

"Who didn't know this?" one person asked.

"It's literally on the packaging... I thought everyone did this," pointed out a different follower.

But then someone pointed out that not all English Muffins are pre-cut.

So make sure you check the packet before you twist! Otherwise, you could end up with some wonky-looking sides and A LOT of crumbs.
