Top TikTok stars in Queensland ranked by followers

They’re the modern day millionaires making a living from 15 second videos. Check out the Queenslanders making it big on TikTok.

Aussie stars from The Influencer Index

They’re the modern day millionaires making a living from 15 second videos, and Queenslanders are leading the charge with many homegrown TikTok stars becoming the biggest in the country.

Making it big online is all about the creator’s ability to grab attention, according to senior lecturer at Griffith University, Dr David Tuffley.

“In my view, TikTok is one of the hardest platforms to actually succeed at grabbing people’s attention. You have to make really attention grabbing, short form videos, and if you’ve ever tried doing that it’s really hard,” he said.

With the emergence of influencers, Dr Tuffley said the new age industry provides a bigger platform for up and coming Queensland stars.

“This sort of field is open to everyone and Queenslanders are on the same playing field as everyone else around the globe,” he said.

“Previously, if you wanted to make it big in show business, you had to relocate where it was all happening. But now, there’s so much more opportunity and they can do it all from home and become a globally recognised name.”

With such a “rapidly evolving” landscape online, Dr Tuffley said he could see a “fluid dynamic” of people who move through the motions of popularity on the app.

“It might lead to a fair bit of burnout among the top people because sustaining it is probably fairly hard work,” he said.

“I think basically what will happen is newcomers will take over from the established ones and there’ll be a fair amount of turn over.”

From fitness influencers to homegrown TV stars, Queensland is crawling with up and coming online celebrities that are turning social media into a full time job.

But with so many vying for the top spot, here’s the most followed Queenslanders on TikTok.
