Wildlife warrior Robert Irwin has shared dramatic footage of a run in with a crocodile that had him running out of the enclosure to escape the lunging creature.
The 18-year-old, who was filming US TV show Crikey! It’s the Irwins, shared the clip on his social media capturing him running from the enclosure shouting “bail, bail, bail” as the crocodile lunged at him.
Irwin was testing crocodile Casper to see if he would be the right fit for Australia Zoo’s midday crocodile show.
Footage showed Irwin attempting to feed Casper and narrowly escaping the crocodile’s jaws.
“Casper has this wild behaviour, and since dad first got Casper he’s had that instinct,” he said.
“Casper’s not like any other croc in Australia Zoo, he’s leucistic, he’s completely pale so this makes him hard to see underwater.”
Irwin lured the croc out of the water with a tasty lunch but when the crocodile ignored his lunch and continued to go after Irwin, he was forced to make a hasty exit from the enclosure.
