Shock radio backflip: Axed hosts reinstated

Just months after axing a popular breakfast show, a major radio network has made a stunning backflip that no one saw coming.

Robin, Kip and Corey's emotional farewell

Radio network ARN has made a stunning backflip, confirming it will reinstate a popular breakfast show that it axed just a couple of months ago.

In October, ARN (which owns KIIS FM) announced its decision to axe the KIIS FM Brisbane breakfast show hosted by Robin Bailey, Kip Wightman, and Corey Oates.

The announcement sparked outrage from the show’s loyal fans, and that outrage only intensified when ARN later revealed the trio would be replaced in 2026 by Craig Low.

The broadcaster, often referred to as ‘Lowie’, rose to fame on The Hot30 Countdown in 2006 before moving to the US to work as a comedian and writer.

He only returned to Australia in October after years abroad.

However, in a shocking development, ARN has confirmed it has changed its mind about its radio shake-up.

“After feedback from Brisbane listeners, ARN has announced that Robin, Kip & Corey will be returning to KIIS 97.3 Breakfast in 2026,” the network announced on Tuesday.

“The trio’s deep connection with Brisbane has been reinforced by strong audience engagement and recent survey results, with listeners making it clear how much they love starting their day with Robin, Kip & Corey.

“ARN’s priority remains delivering the shows audiences love, and today’s announcement reflects that commitment to Brisbane listeners,” the statement said.

Robin Bailey was overjoyed, saying in a statement, “Brissy you did it! Thank you so much. We are coming back because of you and I can’t tell you how grateful I am to be back behind the mic with Kip and Corey again on KIIS 97.3.”

She continued, “a reversal like this is a first and I’m beyond excited for what it means for the Robin Kip & Corey show in 2026.”

What happens to Low

ARN has confirmed that Craig Low will remain employed by the network and will instead move into a national role.

“As part of the refreshed KIIS 97.3 line-up for 2026, Craig ‘Lowie’ Low steps into an exciting new role, hosting a night show, Lowie Live, airing from 9pm-midnight across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth,” it announced in a statement.

Low was gracious about ARN’s decision, saying in statement, “I’m stoked that Brissy gets its favourite breakfast show back – and I can’t wait to create and connect with listeners nationwide across nights on the KIIS Network.”

Both shows will launch on January 19, 2026.
