Brisbane radio star Robin Bailey has confirmed she’s called it quits with her Belgian partner Olivier Massart — affectionately nicknamed ‘Waffles’ by co-host Kip Wightman — amid his divorce proceedings.

The KIIS97.3 breakfast host, who had been dating Massart for eight months, revealed the heartbreaking news on air this week, explaining that the legal battle over her partner’s divorce left her with no choice but to walk away.

“He is still trying to sort out his settlement and divorce, and I don’t feel like there’s a place for me in that right now,” Bailey said.

“It’s out of respect for his ex, for him, and for myself.”

The couple began dating in February, and first went public in April, when Bailey posted romantic snaps from their tropical getaway to New Caledonia.

Just weeks later, she shocked Wightman and fans by sneaking Massart into the studio under the guise of “John from Shingle Inn,” before passionately kissing him in front of a speechless Wightman.

But the fairy tale romance came crashing down as Bailey explained the pressure of dating someone still tied to a complicated past.

“It’s one of the hardest things … and I’ve been through a lot of hard stuff,” Bailey admitted.

“When you so enjoy someone and [you’re] compatible with them, and just love hanging out with them … but that is a part of him that I do not need to be a part of”

Despite their undeniable chemistry — Bailey gushed about how they’d run along the beach and enjoy riding his motorbike — she’s made the tough decision to give Massart space to handle his divorce woes.

“He needs to come to me when he’s 100 per cent ready, and not with baggage that could potentially hurt our relationship,” she explained.

Co-host Wightman couldn’t hide his shock, asking Bailey if she was making the right choice.

“You only get one life, and you’re going to miss him,” Wightman said.

Although Massart is still working through his divorce settlement, the radio duo emphasised that he was “well and truly broken up” with his ex when they met. However, the timing of the divorce still weighed heavily on her decision.

This break-up marks yet another heartbreaking chapter for Bailey, who has suffered immense personal loss over the past decade.

In 2014, she lost her husband Tony Smart to suicide, followed by the tragic death of her partner Sean Pickwell from cancer in 2019.
