ALAN Jones’ station 4BC took a hit overall in the latest radio ratings in the wake of his controversial comments aimed at New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.
The shock jock’s breakfast show fell 1.4 points in Brisbane in the fifth survey of the year, released this morning, while the station as a whole dropped to a 6.7 per cent share of the audience, from Monday to Sunday, making them the third most listened to AM radio station in the River City behind market leaders 4KQ and ABC Brisbane.

The survey was conducted between July 14 and August 17, meaning Jones’ comments about Adern, for which he quickly apologised, occurred in the final days of the survey period.
Jones, on 7.5 per cent audience share, fell behind ABC’s beleaguered breakfast show Craig Zonca & Loretta Ryan, which also recorded a loss of 0.6 points, while 4KQ’s Laurel, Gary & Mark led the AM breakfast options on 8.3 per cent.
Despite losses across the board for AM radio, 4KQ continued to lead the market on 8.7 per cent of the audience overall, ahead of ABC Brisbane on 6.9 per cent.
Overall Nova 106.9 continued to dominate Brisbane’s airwaves, maintaining their spot as most listened to radio station with 12.5 per cent of the audience, Monday to Sunday, followed by a resurgent 97.3 on 12.2 per cent and Triple M on 10.8 per cent.
Breakfast show Ash, Kip, Luttsy and Susie O’Neill retained their breakfast radio crown with 12.7 per cent of the audience, a gain of 0.9 points, ahead of Triple M, which beat 97.3’s Bianca, Mike and Bob by just 0.1 percentage point.
Hit 105 continued to struggle, coming in fourth in Brisbane’s FM battle.
Nova’s Kate, Tim and Marty led the drive options while 4KQ’s Nick Michaels won the AM drive battle.
