Producers will be hoping we have short memories when actor Mark Lee appears on Home And Away this week.
For the 61-year-old, it is in fact the third different character he has played on the popular TV soap since 1996.
“I have actually played a couple of other characters over the past 20-something years,” Lee told Confidential. “I did something in the ’90s then about 12 years ago I did a little cough and a spit, just a small role, so it’s nice to be back.”
This week we will see him in Summer Bay as Rick Booth, the estranged father of Dean (played by Patrick O’Connor), while he previously played the characters of Stuart Mitchell and Orson Cardillo.
“I have been around far too long,” he laughed. “I still enjoy it, which is good.”
Lee is a busy actor, and has worked on just about everything, from A Place To Call Home to Packed To The Rafters, Crownies, Water Rats, All Saints and Sea Change.
He is best known for playing Archy Hamilton alongside a young Mel Gibson in hit 1981 film Gallipoli.
While Gibson went on to become one of our biggest Hollywood exports, Lee has focused on his home turf.
“I have a great admiration for actors who go over there and stick it. I just didn’t,” he said.
