”The Masked Singer is such a fun concept that really gets everyone hooked and wanting more. I am definitely going to see if I can try a few of the costumes on also. I am very excited about the trip and being on the panel to judge the show.
Lohan, who is as well known for her personal woes as her acting career, has been on the top of Ten’s wish list of international talent for some time with rumours each year she will compete on I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!
The 33-year-old will appear as a judge alongside radio host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, comedian Dave Hughes and entertainer Dannii Minogue while Osher Gunsberg will host.
“Each international version of the show contains the wonderful madness that drew me to showbiz in the first place,” Hughes said. “Can’t wait for the Aussie version to out crazy them all.”
The Masked Singer format originated in South Korea, where it was called King of Mask Singer.
The series will feature 12 celebrities singing in head to toe costumes with their faces concealed by masks. Their identities will be unknown to other contestants as well as the judges, who will do their best to identify the singer solely from their voice and a series of clues.
At the end of each episode the studio audience and panel of judges vote for their favourite masked singer. The singer with the least votes is revealed at the end of that episode with one
masked singer revealed every episode.
Nick Cannon hosts the American version, which launched recently and has Ken Jeong, Nicole Scherzinger, Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy on the judging panel.
“The show has already been a huge success and I can only imagine it will get bigger,” Lohan said. “Each week will be so exciting to watch who performs and try and guess who’s
behind the masks.”
Minogue has previously been a judge on The X Factor here and in the UK.
“The best fun about this show is when everyone yells out who they think it is, panellists, audience and everyone watching at home on social media,” Minogue said.
“I will be studying body shape and stage presence as much as listening to the vocal, as these are all vital clues.”
