Karl Stefanovic — the barely blushing groom of what the Nine Network’s PR unit now seems to be marketing as the “wedding of the year” — and his bride Jasmine Yarbrough head to Sydney Airport today bound for Mexico for their December 8 wedding.
Expected to be at the couple’s side for the flight are Stefanovic’s two youngest children, Ava, 13, and River, 12, while eldest son Jackson, 19, could still travel separately, so bruised is the young man who earlier this year dropped his father’s surname to take his mother’s, Thorburn.

With reclusive billionaire James Packer recruited as a groomsman for the wedding, to be held in Los Cabos, not far from where Packer is building his Mexican hacienda, there are bound to be plenty of sweaty palms in the room when Yarbrough’s father Bobby walks his daughter down the aisle next Sunday Australian time.
Former foreign minister Julie Bishop, who, word has it, is scouting for a job, possibly within Packer’s Crown Resorts empire, is strangely attending with her boyfriend David Panton.
So too is Richard Wilkins (who Stefanovic once openly envied for the size of his manhood), Today sports reporter Tim Gilbert and newsreader Sylvia Jeffreys, who is married to Stefanovic’s brother Peter.
Broadcaster Alan Jones, who once gave Stefanovic a six-figure interest-free loan to buy a house, is also along for the Bundaberg rum-fuelled celebrations.
Despite reports elsewhere, insiders last week were adamant that Stefanovic’s on-air sparring partner Georgie Gardner was not invited to the wedding, nor was his Today co-host of 10 years Lisa Wilkinson — both notable absentees that won’t help Stefanovic’s image as a boys’ club ambassador.
