Four decades on from The Love Boat, American actor Ted Lange still answers to Isaac.
“Of course I answer to Isaac,” the 71-year-old told The Daily Telegraph.
“It is flattering. It is generally the older people although the show is still in re-runs and I get fan mail from all over the world, from Germany and France.”

Lange made his debut as Isaac the bartender on The Love Boat in 1977 alongside other popular characters like cruise director Julie McCoy, purser Gopher and Captain Merrill Stubing.
He is in town this week to celebrate the return of the Pacific Princess cruise ship to Sydney and launch for the ocean liner’s 2020-21 season.
“We were sure that it wasn’t going to work,” Lange said of The Love Boat.
Lange is based in Los Angeles where he still works as an actor. The Love Boat though is the biggest role of his career.
“I am doing a number of things … writing plays, acting, I’m here for Princess Cruises and I am directing television wherever I can,” he explained, adding that cruising is one of his favourite ways to travel: “It really is wonderful. You get a chance to relax.
“You don’t have to worry about anything and you’re getting to see some wonderful cities around the globe. I love cruising.”
