“I’ve now got my routine sorted and I’m confident to leave the house,” Byrne told Confidential.

“It has been an adjustment. It is not only an adjustment of schedules but it is also an adjustment of your identity. You have to create some me time. You have to dedicate time for self care. It is hard to find that time for yourself but I have to maintain that because otherwise it becomes all about having a baby.”

Byrne helped launch Dyson’s new Beauty Lab on Wednesday in Sydney’s QVB, the first of its kind in the world and was treated to a blow dry.

“This was one of my first opportunities to go out of the house and do something for me,” she said partner Matty Johnson minding daughter Marlie-Mae Rose nearby.

“It is so hard to do anything the first couple of weeks. I have spent nearly three weeks solidly in stretchy pants on the couch with her,” she said. “Having a supportive partner in Matt is so great.”

Byrne this week started easing herself back into work on her ToniMay jewellery business but is in no rush.

“A difficult thing for me has been people’s perception of maternity leave,” she said. “I am starting to go back to work slowly now but I am lucky because I can take Marlie-May with me to work and we have a really great set-up for that. Work is so important for my mental health and when you have your own business, you have to be able to have that. I am not putting any pressure on myself though, I will work as I am able to.”

Byrne and Johnson fell in love with Matty J on the 2017 season of The Bachelor and became engaged earlier this year.
