5 Seconds of Summer’s Michael Clifford celebrates fiance Crystal Leigh’s birthday in Sydney

5 Seconds of Summer guitarist Michael Clifford has been indulging in the vegan delights of his hometown with the ‘love of his life’ Crystal Leigh.

Loved-up 5 Seconds of Summer guitarist Michael Clifford has been spotted at a vegan restaurant in Sydney.

The popular muso took girlfriend of three years, Crystal Leigh, to soak up some of the culinary delights of his home town for her birthday.

Leigh shared a happy snap on social media, declaring of Alibi plant-based restaurant in Woolloomooloo: “Seeking approval to turn my pointless Instagram into a vegan food blog after a religious culinary experience”.

5SOS have been spending time in Sydney the past few weeks in Sydney to launch new single, Easier.

Usually based in Los Angeles, they made the most of their time at home. They spent the night at Alibi to celebrate Leigh’s birthday with bandmate Luke Hemmings and his partner, Sierra Deaton.

“I’m the luckiest guy in the entire world,” Clifford wrote on Instagram of his fiance. “Happy birthday to the love/light of my life.”

They have been dating for three years.

Their vegan meal included Kimchi Dumplings, Bao Buns and Sweet Potato Gratin. The restaurant opened within Ovolo boutique hotel in March last year with Jordan Brogan head chef, together with creative culinary partner Matthew Kenny.

Also while in town, Clifford’s bandmates Callum Hood and Ashton Irwin attended opening night of Muriel’s Wedding The Musical at the Lyric Theatre and the Youngblood singers performed on The Voice grand final episode on Sunday night.

The band last week said success in Australia drives them to prove themselves even more on the world stage. Youngblood was not only the highest selling single in Australia last year but it amassed more than one billion global streams.

“For us, particularly in Australia for (Youngblood) to be that successful, it felt like we were accepted,” Hemmings said.

“We’ve always had amazing fans in Australia, but for the (wider) Australian public, they were a bit confused about what we were as a band and trying to achieve. It was important to have that (acceptance).”
