Private jet passenger revealed after landing sparks Elle Macpherson rumours in Hervey Bay

Eagle eyes have identified a cashed-up jetsetter after a Gulf Stream touchdown in a top tourist destination on Tuesday sparked rumours it wasn’t just anyBody on-board.

The arrival of a private jet, chartered from Hamilton Island to Hervey Bay, sparked a social media storm amid rumours supermodel Elle Macpherson may be holidaying where her sister was once the face of the local whale watching industry.

It comes after an unmarked gulf stream touched down on the Fraser Coast on Tuesday just days after The Body jetted into the Whitsundays and was seen posting social media snaps on Hayman Island.

Hervey Bay has long been linked to the Macpherson name after a young Mimi joined a whale watching crew in the 90s and started her own whale-watching business aboard Discovery One before switching to property development.

As posts about the mystery gulf stream hit social media on Tuesday morning, posters on pages like the All New Hervey Bay Community Noticeboard were quick to speculate Elle was in town.

Under a post from Steve Sandford stating an “unmarked Gulf Stream jet just come in, Hamilton Island to HB”, Kat Rogers responded “Elle M(a)cpherson? She’s been holidaying in the Whitsundays” while Karen Chatfield wrote “Yep, I reckon Elle”.

Others like Steve Baker thought it was Queensland Premier Steven Miles “pork barrelling again” after the Labor leader’s private plane trip from Hervey Bay to Bundaberg caused controversy last week.

However, airport sources have confirmed it was neither a famous face nor politician on-board.

Instead, it’s understood the plane was carrying head honchos from the Spotlight Group, which recently completed a major shopping centre development in the centre of Hervey Bay featuring the namesake anchor tenant and other major franchises like Early Settler, Anaconda and Planet Fitness.

Members of the SPG team are regularly seen in Hervey Bay where they are understood to be canvassing for more land for future developments.

The jet had taken off again by early Tuesday afternoon.

The evolution of Hervey Bay has been making headlines of late due to the council’s historic approval of an 18-storey $450 million Sheraton Resort on the city’s esplanade at Torquay which will feature a diving pool designed by celebrity landscaper Jamie Durie and a proposed Raddison in Pialba.
