Angie Kent savagely roasts Bachelorette ex Carlin Sterritt

Ouch. Bachelorette star Angie Kent didn’t hold back when asked about her ex-boyfriend Carlin Sterritt on her new podcast.

It appears there’s still hard feelings between Angie Kent and her ex-boyfriend, Carlin Sterritt.

The pair struck up a relationship on the 2019 season of The Bachelorette, with the former Gogglebox star giving her final rose to Sterritt.

But just eight months after the finale aired, the couple announced their split in July 2020, with Kent claiming their values were “totally different”.

Now she’s given an insight into just how different they were while speaking with her best friend Yvie Jones on Nova’s podcast Two Girls One Pod, in which she claimed Sterritt wanted her to look a “certain way”.

“I’m going to attract people that I don’t really like because I don’t like being 48 kilos and drinking too much and having to look like a doll all the time. I’m going to end up with Carlin, and look how swimmingly that turns out,” Kent said.

“I don’t want to attract that sh*t. I want to look like this and attract a really nice human.”

Angie Kent and Carlin Sterritt’s relationship lasted eight months after the Bachelorette finale aired in 2019.

Kent said Sterritt – who has since entered a relationship with Sydney creative director Emily Bradwell – was “probably a good partner to a Barbie doll”.

“No offence to him. I’m sure you know, he’s a great partner to a Barbie doll but not for this guy (me),” she said.

After Jones mentioned there was “an expectation for you to look a certain way”, Kent continued: “Oh my god. He would not even get an ugly dog. I said I wanted a three legged dog, like a rescue and he was like … ‘I want an aesthetically pleasing dog. We are not getting a dog like that.’

“We had a huge fight. And I was like ‘What if our children are going to be ugly? Are you going to not want to have them?’ Oh, another story.”

Shortly after announcing their split, Kent told The Kyle and Jackie O Show that the couple’s religious differences saw them grow apart.

Kent, who is still single, describes herself as “spiritual”, while Sterritt is Christian.

“We were so smitten with each other on the show, but we were so different [in real life]. Both of us were different,” she told the radio hosts in November last year.

“He was very religious and had all these ideas that I should be a certain way when I wasn’t.”

Sterritt has also previously opened up about their split, with a rather different version of events.

Speaking on Nova’s How To … Life podcast in September last year, Sterritt said he felt insecure after watching the series in full and seeing Kent’s strong connections with fellow contestants, specifically the show’s runner-up, Timm Hanly.

“She really cared for Timm. They were kind of messaging a little bit afterwards,” he explained.

Angie and Carlin have since gone their separate ways.

“I was trying to play it cool, like ‘it’s fine’, you know it’s all good, and I was trying to be nice and I was trying to do the right thing. And then more and more, her and Timm messaging each other it just started to really eat me away.

“Being the guy that was chosen at the end, and then having to watch it all back, it bred this insecurity in me that was kind of lying dormant that I hadn’t dealt with since my ex-wife.

“I think seeing how strong some of those other connections were, I was like … ‘far out! I wasn’t really just this huge front runner’ and I did see that it was quite a hard choice.”
