TV personality Abbie Chatfield has announced the arrival of an adorable new member to her family — Daisy, a Cocker Spaniel x Clumber Spaniel mix, joining the Chatfield pack as the newest fur-baby.
Chatfield took to social media on Sunday to announce the new arrival, adding that her first pet, a seven-year-old dog named Walter, has proudly taken on the role of a proud big brother.
“Welcoming beautiful Daisy to our family has been so exciting, she is an absolute darling,” she said.
But the journey towards integrating Daisy into the Chatfield household has been anything but straightforward.
Abbie has candidly opened up about the rollercoaster of becoming a puppy mum for the second time — facing challenges such as anxiety, the dreaded puppy blues, and the daunting task of puppy-proofing her home.
“I had been anxious about bringing Daisy home and honestly while the first few weeks were incredibly difficult, I’m so glad she’s with me,” she said.
“From getting the house puppy-proof to mastering the art of sleep training, being a puppy parent isn’t glamorous.
Determined to be as prepared as possible for Daisy’s arrival, Abbie sought the expertise of the Petbarn team.
“Before we brought Daisy home, I took Walter to Petbarn to pick up all our puppy essentials for his little sister, along with additional items for Walter to ensure he doesn’t feel left out,” Chatfield said.
“To all those navigating similar doubts or concerns, chat with other puppy parents and local Petbarn store for expert advice,” she said.
In contrast to her growing furry family, Chatfield has previously voiced her hesitations about motherhood, detailing her decision to freeze her eggs on her podcast ‘It’s a Lot’.
At 28, amid conversations with friends about the future and motherhood, she considered egg freezing as a forward-thinking step, amid personal reflections and past experiences that have shaped her approach to family planning.
“So I was away on a trip with my girlfriends over summer, we are all almost 30, none of us are engaged – none of us are even close to having kids,” she said on her podcast.
With their milestone birthdays fast approaching, the friend group, who were previously adamant they didn’t want children, found themselves changing their attitudes towards motherhood.
“Then I said ‘maybe I should just start freezing my eggs’ because I’m 28,” Chatfield said on her podcast.
