Youngcare, one of Australia’s leading philanthropic organisations, has appointed a new CEO after the departure of its boss of five years.
Greg Johnson, previously general manager of the AEIOU Foundation for children with autism, takes up the new position on Wednesday.
He replaces Anthony Ryan, who has moved to Brisbane City Council’s Brisbane Economic Development Agency.
Brisbane-based Youngcare develops specialist disability accommodation, advocates for policy change, and provides grants, education and pathways for the young disabled.
Announcing the shift, Youngcare board chair Paul McLean said Mr Johnson’s prior roles, including as board member for Operation Smile Australia and RBWH Foundation, aligned with the Youngcare mission.
“Youngcare works tirelessly to provide choice, independence and dignity to young people with high physical support needs; as an organisation that is small in size but very large in mission, it’s vital the leading hand is passionate about making a difference,” Mr McLean said.
“We are extremely confident that Mr Johnson’s experience and skills will lead the team to continue our ambitious mission.”
Before joining the AEIOU Foundation, Mr Johnson had an extensive career in the financial services sector, holding senior executive roles with NAB and Macquarie Bank.
