Fraser Coast Krispy Kreme lovers can rejoice – Maryborough’s 7-Eleven has officially opened and, after months of speculation, it can be confirmed the outlet will stock the tasty treats.

According to 7-Eleven’s Steve Went, the new outlet is the first of many to follow in coming years, with two or three new stores set to open on the Fraser Coast in the next few years.

The business, located on Alice St next to McDonalds, will have team of 10 people under the leadership of store manager Joanne Hodgson.

Llew O’Brien, Member for Wide Bay, Bruce Saunders, MP for Maryborough and Mayor George Seymour from Fraser Coast Regional Council joined the team on Tuesday to officially celebrate the occasion.

“People can grab their favourite products and fill up at any time 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We have food and convenience options including 7-Eleven’s handmade sandwiches, wraps and Krispy Kreme doughnuts, as well as 7-Eleven’s freshly ground Fairtrade certified coffee, Slurpee including Slurpee no sugar options and our frozen blended smoothies, frappés and shakes,” Mr Went said.

“Our store manager Joanne Hodgson and her team have been doing an amazing job working to get this store stocked and ready to welcome our customers on opening day.”

The team was excited to welcome locals to their new 7-Eleven, which would have fuel, food and convenience ranges, and deliveries of fresh food seven days a week, Ms Hodgson said.

Mr Truscott said it was a pleasure to attend the official opening and congratulate the management on taking the steps to bring this new site to fruition.

“This vacant block has been in need of development for many years so it‘s good to see a new facility available to our community and the space used,” he said.

“Not only is the site now operational, 7-Eleven employs 10 staff.

“That‘s 10 new jobs that didn’t previously exist, so I’m grateful for the employment opportunity.

“I think what our community will also be happy to hear is the convenience of items available such as Slurpees and daily fresh Krispy Kremes – there was already a line up today – enjoy.”
