A surge in demand has fast tracked the next stage of a $6.7 billion southeast Queensland masterplanned community.

Leading development company Peet Limited said because of strong demand supported to government stimulus programs it has brought forward the release of the first new land in Stage 2 – named the Aspire Release — in its $6.7bn Flagstone masterplanned community in Jimboomba south of Brisbane.

Peet chief executive Brendan Gore said the Aspire Release marked the continued evolution of Flagstone, while still meeting current preferred living trends towards community living and outdoor lifestyle opportunities.

“We expect this first land release of 21 lots to be snapped up quickly, supported by the Queensland First Home Owners’ grant and the Federal Government’s extension of the First Home Loan Deposit Scheme,” he said.

“At Flagstone, young professionals, couples and families will continue to be able to achieve their dream of home ownership and join the 6000 people already settled here in this thriving community,” he said.

Peet expects Flagstone’s Aspire land release to contribute to the employment of approximately 200 workers across direct and indirect jobs associated with civil works, landscaping, residential construction and broader supplier operations.

Land subdivisions across southeast Queensland have reported a spike in interest from young families backed by stimulus packages such as HomeBuilder, which offers a $25,000 grant to build a new home.

The Aspire Release follows the success of Stage 1 land releases, Pioneer, Conquest and Gateway, which have attracted more than 20 new families to Flagstone every month since the first land was released in March 2016.

Mr Gore said Flagstone’s popularity is in part due to its focus on community, family and an outdoor lifestyle which sees residents enjoy amenities such as childcare centres, schools, recreation facilities, public transport and parks in proximity to their homes.

Peet’s long-term vision for bringing Flagstone to life is becoming clearer every day. In just the last eighteen months the precinct has welcomed a raft of retailers including Coles, Woolworths, McDonalds, IGA and TerryWhite Chemmart, along with childcare centres and new parks.

Flagstone City is a joint venture between national residential land specialists Peet Limited and industry superannuation giant MTAA Super.

\Over the next 30 years, the $6.7 billion development will provide 12,000 homes and a 126-hectare CBD with plans for a future hospital, tertiary campus, train station. The 1245-hectare development site includes 330ha of green space.
