Food Republik

Asian

This fun restaurant mimics an Asian-style hawker market, with six speciality stalls under one roof. Diners order from one long menu and the food is delivered to the table. Taiwanese snacks from Shihlin Cafe are a highlight; it’s hard to resist the pork-belly burger, a sweet steamed bun filled with soy-marinated pork, pickled bok choy, crushed peanuts and coriander. There’s a huge selection of dumplings, soothing noodle soups and, especially for homesick expats, a stall serving thick-cut white toast topped with condensed milk, kaya (coconut jam) or butter and sugar, perhaps with a glass of soy milk and grass jelly.
