When interest rates started rising and valuations of start-ups began to fall in 2022, Advanced Navigation founder Chris Shaw was relieved the company had been relatively frugal.

His start-up, which makes robotic navigation systems, has raised more than $128 million to date, and managed to not just maintain its valuation during the correction, but grow it. This has landed Shaw and co-founder Xavier Orr on the 2024 Young Rich List for the first time, with valuations of $112 million each.
