Funds managers pressure Brazil over Amazon
London | Institutional investors managing about $US3.7 trillion ($5.3 trillion) in assets want Brazil to abandon a proposal they say will add to deforestation and violate the rights of indigenous groups in the Amazon.
Led by Norway's Storebrand, the 29 funds from across the globe have asked for video calls with local ambassadors to Brazil to discuss the matter, according to an open letter. The money managers signalled Brazil's failure to protect its forests may force them to reconsider their investments.
