Washington | The United States is expected to unveil sanctions on Russia as soon as next week over its alleged meddling in the 2020 US presidential election, CNN reported, citing anonymous American officials.

US intelligence officials said in a report released on Tuesday (Wednesday AEDT) that Russian President Vladimir Putin knew of and likely directed a Russian effort to manipulate the US presidential campaign to benefit former president Donald Trump with “misleading or unsubstantiated allegations” against challenger Joe Biden.
