Whatever the final voter breakdown of Donald Trump’s presidential win, two demographic trends relevant to Australia will haunt Anthony Albanese all the way to next year’s federal election.
The first is the slow but sure drift of blue-collar workers, mainly men, away from centre-left parties such as the Democrats in the United States, Labor in Australia and Labour in Britain.
