Defiant Trump rages against Biden after not-guilty plea

Washington | A defiant Donald Trump has laid out his legal defence to what he called “the most evil and heinous abuse of power” in America’s history, after pleading not guilty to federal criminal charges that he unlawfully kept national-security documents and lied to officials who sought to recover them.

Mr Trump told a crowd of supporters at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, on Tuesday (Wednesday AEST) that President Joe Biden had engaged in political persecution like “something straight out of a fascist or communist nation” and Department of Justice Special Counsel Jack Smith, who brought the case against Mr Trump, was “deranged”.
