Jacksonville | Golfer Phil Mickelson wagered more than $US1 billion ($1.5 billion) and lost more than $US100 million on sporting events over the past three decades and attempted to place a bet on a Ryder Cup he was playing in, professional gambler Billy Walters claims in a new book.

Mickelson denied ever betting on the Ryder Cup.
