Trump says Harris should be ‘ashamed’ for ‘garbage’ remark

Matthew Cranston

Washington | US Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday (Thursday AEDT) sought to distance herself from President Joe Biden’s use of the word “garbage” when discussing Donald Trump’s supporters and the racist rhetoric at a weekend rally.

“I strongly disagree with any criticism of people based on who they vote for,” Ms Harris told reporters before boarding Air Force Two, adding that Mr Biden had since clarified his comments to emphasise that he was referring to hateful rhetoric and not to Trump supporters in general.
