San Francisco | China is ready to be a partner and friend of the United States, and there is plenty of room for bilateral co-operation, President Xi Jinping told American executives in San Francisco on Wednesday (Thursday AEDT), as Beijing looks to reassure global business and counter his country’s struggles to entice foreign investment.

In a speech to business executives shortly after meeting US President Joe Biden, Mr Xi said China “never bets against the United States” and “has no intention to challenge the United States or to unseat it”.
