Chalmers prepares for US tariffs and debt burden
Washington | Treasurer Jim Chalmers warned America’s growing debt burden and political uncertainty in the lead-up to the presidential election had become a risk the world is watching and said he was preparing for potential tariff increases.
Dr Chalmers, who is attending G20 and International Monetary Fund talks in Washington, met with key economic advisers on both sides of the political divide to understand the risks around future policies under rivals Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
