Washington/Canberra | After a year-long wait, Caroline Kennedy, the only surviving child of former president John F. Kennedy, has been nominated as the US ambassador to Australia.

Ms Kennedy, who served as Washington’s ambassador to Japan from 2013 to 2017, is one of the key nominations in President Joe Biden’s pivot to the Indo-Pacific; her confirmation is likely to be supported on both sides of politics.
