Strikes between Hezbollah and Israel have been common for decades, but attacks between the two have ramped up sharply in the past week, raising fears of a wider war.
On Friday (Saturday AEST) Israel killed a senior Hezbollah commander and other members of the militant group in an airstrike in the southern suburbs of Beirut, following a week of deadly attacks across Lebanon that included detonations of walkie-talkies and pagers that killed at least 37 people and wounded thousands.
