Beirut | Iran’s supreme leader vowed revenge on Israel over the targeted killing of Hamas’ political chief on Wednesday, an audacious attack that threatens to engulf the region in further conflict.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Israel “prepared a harsh punishment for itself” after Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated in a pre-dawn airstrike on a residence in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
