The Crown was frequently mired in controversy thanks to its much-debated, semi-fictionalised depiction of the royal family, but now the makers of the Netflix hit are taking on a far more provocative subject.
The Lady, which begins filming this year, will tell the story of Jane Andrews, the Duchess of York’s former dresser, who was convicted of murdering her boyfriend Thomas Cressman by beating him with a cricket bat and stabbing him with a kitchen knife at their west London home in 2000.
