Paris | Noemie Fox has emerged from the shadow of her all-conquering older sister Jess, winning the women’s kayak cross gold medal in what will surely be the most emotionally charged Australian victory of Paris 2024.

As her kayak crossed the line, her mother, her double gold medal-winning sister and her boyfriend-cum-coach all jumped fully clothed into the water to swim out and share the moment with an ecstatically tearful Fox.
