London | Boris Johnson is never a man to do things in half-measures. At the start of the pandemic, the British Prime Minister became a father (for the sixth time) and almost died of COVID-19. Now, at a point he’d have hoped would be well past the end of the pandemic, he has become a father yet again, and has found his leadership on life support.

Johnson has always been an attention-seeker and headline-grabber, but this week has brought nothing but the wrong sort. Even he might be wishing for a bit of peace and quiet – particularly when his new baby daughter finds her lungs.
