Washington | Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen suggested the US would not discount protecting new industrial sectors against China to counter massive state investments by Beijing in areas including clean energy.
“We need to have a level playing field,” Dr Yellen told reporters en route to China on Thursday (AEDT), in her second visit to the world’s second-biggest economy in nine months. “We’re concerned about a massive investment in China in a set of industries that’s resulting in overcapacity.”
