Taiwan foreign minister Joseph Wu says he does not fear a potential return of Donald Trump to the White House despite the billionaire previously indicating an unwillingness to defend the island democracy if China invades.

The former president once told a US senator that Taiwan was “two feet from China” and if China invaded Taiwan “there isn’t a thing we can do about it”, according to a book by Washington Post columnist Josh Rogin.
