The second floor studio of Cube Entertainment sits in a suburb of Seoul once known as the home of shoemakers.

Under the wash of stage lights and blinking cameras, the space feels nothing like the workstations of cobblers. But a sign on the wall suggests some of the labourers' work ethic may have been preserved: "Those who lack effort. Those who lack passion. Those who lack potential. Will go home".
