Chinese newspaper accuses Australia of spying offensive

Shanghai | A Chinese tabloid newspaper says a compass and a map of Shanghai seized from alleged Australian spies arrested two years ago are evidence Australia is intensifying an espionage offensive against China.

In a series of bizarre claims citing a single anonymous source, the report in the Global Times claimed Australia was sending agents to China to spy, gather intelligence and recruit students and other citizens for espionage operations.
